Rustor manufactures cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries. Rustor developed and scaled up the technologies for the production of two major types of cathode materials — NMC (mixed oxide of nickel, manganese, and cobalt, LiNixCoyMnzO2) and LFP (lithium-iron phosphate, LiFePO4). Currently, the company is scaling the technology of NMC production up to 20 tons per year. The project is at TRL 7.
Technology scope: — batteries with NMC cathode materials are designed for the applications requiring high energy density — for example, electric vehicles; — batteries with LFP cathode materials are employed in the applications requiring high reliability and low cost — for example, energy storage systems and electric transport with the limited driving range.
Competitive strengths: — electrochemical properties of Rustor cathode materials match the world best; — Rustor advanced cathode materials with the improved properties are not available commercially elsewhere; — main equipment for the production is designed and manufactured in Russia.
Market in Russia and competitors:
Rustor is the only producer of NMC and LFP cathode materials in Russia.
